When I uninstall Ubuntu One and CouchDB, why doesn't it go away?

Asked by k browne

When I uninstall Ubuntu One and CouchDB, why doesn't it go away? It still shows up in my Evolution address book and I can't delete it. I want it to disappear.

Rodrigo, can you answer this question? I've tried to completely uninstall evolution-couchdb without success. I always show the CouchDB->Ubuntu One address book in Evolution, even after shutting evolution down completely and restarting after removing the evolution-couchdb package.

It appears this is a known bug (https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/453262) that we need to fix. Please look at the comment by Rodrigo in that bug report for a workaround that should remove the Ubuntu One address book from Evolution.

Thank you,

Joshua

Well, that didn't work. I installed evolution-couchdb and it acted the same way when I tried to delete it. I right-click the ubuntu-one address book, choose delete and delete. Nothing happens.
I think CouchDB and Ubuntu-One should be removed from the list of installed packages. I really see no use for it. If someone wants it, they can install it later.

Will this bug be fixed in Ubuntu 10:04?

Yes, we plan on having this fixed in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. One of the Ubuntu One developers (Rodrigo) is working on getting this fix done. Thanks! Joshua
