I found that the "backend" non ui stuff is:

http://duplicity.nongnu.org/

it handles the magic of cloud transport.

still can't find some easy config docs.

ok, at some point a window schedule backup window appeared.
likely after i did a reboot.
a dialog window appeared with:

"Grant Access" bold H2 font.
You first need to allow Deja Dup Back tool to access your Google account. (Which i kinda figured should be the process.)
button:
[Grant Access]
pops window to google, make the grant to deja to backup:

A window appears when it's done to close the localhost

Access Granted

Déjà Dup Backup Tool will now continue. You can close this page.

How does one change any of this?
Where is the settings for the app configuration if later i wanted to add password?

I'm running 20.04.
Yeah it works!

https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/ubuntu-backup-deja-dup/

I did some screen caps for dummies like me.

i {think maybe}
The trick was i should have click start backup. It doesn't offer you to do all that in the workflow until the user actually starts the 1st backup process.
