Network quota: how to perform backups in daily batches of n GB?

Asked by Naël

I'm behind a university dorm router that sets daily limits of 20 GB download and 20 GB upload per user. The connection is otherwise very good (fiber optics).

I would like to backup 100+ GB of data to an external FTP server. What is the recommended procedure to have Déjà-Dup, or Duplicity, perform a full backup over several days, uploading less than 20 GB of data a day, or the corresponding number of difftar.gz files?

I couldn't find any relevant information or dconf key.

There's no good way to do this. :(

Awww :(

Anyway thanks for the answer! I've opted to performing the initial backup from another network (without upload quotas). Will have to do it again whenever Déjà-Dup schedules the next full backup.
