how-to Backup to multiple destinations ?

Asked by AndreK

I would prefer to scedule a backup to a SMB server (on Linux)
then , occasionally, do a manual backup to a external USB3 drive - a drive that is stored away, not connected.
Is there a clean way to switch between these two configs/backups ?

Not super easily, no. You can switch your backup location in your preferences before doing a manual backup then switch it back when done. But that's it.

-would it somehow confuse it when it comes to when/what to overwrite and when to do full backup?
-how would Nautilus integration handle that ? - wouls it recognize the option to restore from one or both sources ?

No. It determines what to back up and whether to do a full backup based on the files in the backup location.

It would look at whatever location was currently configured.

I need to do much the same as this too, ie having local backups on a USB HDD and Amazon S3 based cloud backups for disaster recovery.

I cant easily swap between two configs, is there no other way to achieve this? Ie running Dejadup under two accounts which is missing, or running this with Duplicity instead? But would remove the simplicity and common sense I get when using DejaDup.

Is this something that could be added to Dejadup perhaps? I'm not a coder so can't help I'm afraid ..

Can you help with this problem?
