am I being traffic shaped?

Asked by Paul Burgon

the last 2 weeks I've been unable to use DC++ between 8AM and 2AM the following morning, my downloads are coming in fine, and suddenly the speed drops to nothing and stays that way for the next 18 hours, AOL say they are not speed-limiting me, but could it be anything else given the specific timeframe?

It does sound like that, and looking on the BitTorrent traffic where the client Azureus collected data from 8.000 users with a plugin to detect TCP-resets, from over 1.000.000 hr's of traffic, AOL got listed as number 11 from top of "bad" ISP's from around the world, but in the USA they are number 4.

Denying they are doing traffic shaping is nothing new under the sun when it comes to the providers, just look at comcast.
do some google and try to see if you can find more information from other AOL users.
After all, AOL is part of the Time Warner Group ;)
