How do I play downloaded movies?

I have all of the files, but .wmv files only play sound, and other weird ones i can't even open

What Windows operating system are you using as in XP or Vista?

if VLC can't play it, it is most likley a "fake" or corrupt file. Download it again but this time go for the proper rips, ie .rar files :)
