Trojans

Asked by petri_torvinen@hotmail.com

Is there someone responsible for the safety regarding DC++-files?

2 times now I have received Trojans from simple MP3-files, what the hell is going on?

Just wondering, because now I'm really getting annoyed!

Thank you!

Blame Windows for that :)

"One virus that is easy to get here on DC is the double extension's ones. And that is simply because Windows by default has the known extensions hidden in explorer.

So if an file ends .exe it looks ok out, as you wont see it might end .exe.exe or .mp3.exe :S
Read this information: http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/documents/0/670/ on how to show the extensions
or/and read about the virus at http://www.techweb.com/encyclopedia/defineterm.jhtml?term=doubleextension "

This text is taken from my own client where I have added it under the clientcommands, so users with this kind of share will get the information needed to take action.
