Got a problem, im trying to use a hub that only uses some older versions of DC++ but im using quite a new modem router with vista, older versions of DC++ wont work correctly with my router unless i use UPNP.

My question is

UPnP support is only in DC++ 0.4033 and later versions.

You really don't want to go earlier that 0.674 because of a security exploit in versions earlier than that.
Personally i wouldn't go earlier than 0.68 because that's when user identification was vastly improved.
An alternative is to not bother with the hub which wants to live in the past.

the hub itself uses the 401, if i use that version i get nothing in the way of search results, except in passive, even then i can't get file lists or directory search results.

the later versions of DC++ are ideal cos i can use the UPNP and i get fast directory search results, but i can't download or obtain any file lists

TTH error message, something like that!!

so really im looking for the first version of DC++ that supports UPNP

You can browse through the changelog for DC++ yourself and find which version first implemented UPnP.

Your question is answered. It is 0.4033. Of course lots of bugfixes introduced in the upnp code since then so probably one of those bugs keeps 0.4033 from working in your configuration. For some reasons this version is unlikely to work well with Vista (I won't go into the details the changelog.txt in your client folder tells everything).
You get errors with the newest version because some time ago a lot of compatibility code for communicating with ancient versions was removed from DC++. If you really can't get rid of that hub and use the newest version I think you should try 0.689.

thanks for your help so far

the DC++ 0.4033 has no UPNP support, i installed it, and the 0.689 has the UPNP blanked out and it wont let me check it to use it, even though UPNP is switched on my modem router.

Seems you are out of luck since according to the changelog UPNP support for Vista is available only from 0.695 while the last compatible build with older versions is 0.689.

Can you help with this problem?
