Integration into Windows Update

Asked by Richard Berger

Are there any plans to integrate CoApps's "Update Service" into Windows Update just like Microsoft Update?

Integrating into Windows Update is a lot more effort than it sounds, and wouldn't provide us with the flexibility we need anyway.

The current intention is to have an update service as part of CoApp, and publishers will just publish their own updates.

With a single service handling this, I suspect we can get rid of the plethora of tray-apps that clog Windows these days.

CoApp must than run as windows service, that it can check for updates and inform the user about these like windows update this does... or I unterstand something wrong?

I think it would be better to have a update service separated from the Microsoft Update - not I would distrust Microsoft, but this project is an open source thing and most of the users of "our" services could have a problem with too tight integration with Microsoft services...
