Licencing

Asked by Adam Baxter

Does the use of the CoApp framework impose any limitations on a project re licencing? Of course there is the usual paranoia about any Microsoft "involvement" in anything open source.

I believe to make it more clear, the BSD license applies to the build and development tools that we will be creating as part of this project. Not to the open source projects that use these tools to create the MSI's for the Windows platform. They would continue to be licensed under their own terms.

So, even if Microsoft wanted to claim the tools at some point, all previous releases of CoApp would still be available to the open source community to continue enhancing. Worst case, Garrett is no longer paid to work on the project and would have to do it on his own time like the rest of us.
