Where are log files stored?

Asked by Alf Sagen

Previously, when using clamscan without a GUI, I have been using cron to start a daily scan with option -l and a path/filename to ensure logging. When using ClamTK, however, the "History" button in the GUI (v5.05) shows log files, *but* I cannot find these files in the file system. (I have searched the filesystem, curently running a heavier grep to search, but so far haven't found anything.) In order to ensure log rotation is not done too often/quickly, I have to now where files are stored. (Yup, I've got some not-very-sensible requirements originating from PCI-DSS compliance need...this is originating from VISA & Mastercard, and the funniest part is that only **Non-Windows** systems need to document fw, AV etc. :-D )

My second (and related) question is how the scheduling works, since I cannot find any schedule defined in either cron definition files. (If I found the cron def, then I could possibly see where files are stored. Also, it would be possible to change frequency from daily as wel as wich directories are scanned -- only /home is available for selection in ClamTK GUI v5.05 it seems.)

Thanks a lot in advance!

Alf,

History logs are under ~/.clamtk/history. So, if your username is alf,
they're under /home/alf/.clamtk/history. You can view and delete them
through the interface.

To view your personal crontab, type "crontab -l" (without quotes) from the
commandline.

Thanks,
Dave M
