Default view is Pinned Items

Asked by LS d^_^b

Hi, first of, thanks for making Cardapio. It's a really neat tool. As of this question, I've un-installed Gnome Do, removed the main menu and replaced it with Cardapio (plus globalmenu). Needless to say I'm enjoying it.

My question: Is there a way to change the default view to Pinned Items instead of All? Or is there a way to remove the All Items button all together? Cardapio defaulting to All displays all the applications installed in the right pane, which then handles it by adding a scroll bar. It's not a big deal really, but I think it'll make it look less cluttered if it defaults to Pinned Items right away. The scroll bar kinda kills the good looks.

Thanks in advance.

Hey liquid-skinn,

I’m glad you like Cardapio. :)

We had a similar question / bug #604664 a while ago, several reasons against the proposal:
– Cardapio is a menu focused on both keyboard and mouse usage. Some people like / are faster scrolling rather than using the category items.
– The scroll bar will show up eventually anyway, see bug #592470 for solutions (e. g. removing the horizontal scrollbar).
– Some people don’t use pinning at all, or have only a few items pinned. I for one like seeing pinned items _and_ places.
– The menu entries are content, not clutter. We should focus on removing non-content clutter before we do anything else.

I hope that explains our decisions. :)
