cairo compilation & usage errors

Asked by José Filipe

Hi !
You had a great holidays ?

I had a very great holidays ! lool
But now im back to work in this week :-)

Yesterday, cairo dock runs very well, but after a very lot of updates, it do not work well !
My first instinct is to update cairo core and plug-ins (bzr up) !

When i trying compiling plugins it shows this error:
http://pastebin.com/qv7bGuC4

I tried to revert (bzr revert), but when compiling shows the somme error !

But if i try run cairo-dock, it shows this error
http://pastebin.com/5J1QDaQQ

Maybe, is because core and plug-ins are not sincronyzed ... !

There are a way to fix this ?
Regards

Hi,
thank you for reporting this :)
it seems to be a problem with the new Printer-Menu applet.
Waht you can do at the moment is delete the lines 1000 to 1011 and
recompile the plug-ins.
@Matttbe: since you are on Ubuntu 12.10, can you check what's wrong ?

Or better, revert the plug-ins to rev 2534 until the problem is fixed :-)
"bzr revert -r 2534"

Ooops, this does not work

cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr
CMake Error: Error in cmake code at
/home/jfilipe/testes/cairo-dock-plug-ins/CMakeLists.txt:998:
Parse error. Expected a command name, got unquoted argument with text "<<<<<<<".
-- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!

About revisions and changes, i see now that at the end this has a list of recent revisions, and clicing in one i can see the changes of this revision, thank you ;-)

Its a pleasure, report bugs and other questions, i like very mutch the fact that this project run fastest, whith a dynamic team !
Congratulations for your job :-D

Another question:
Why one stable version (core and plug-ins) of cairo dock, leaves work after lot of updates ?

In My opinion, this will be independent and robust, and after you update the system, its works well again, else i have to update cairo dock after a lot of updates (not all, but the critiical like kde and/or kernel update)

I guess you've some BZR conflicts (did you remove a few lines in CMakeLists.txt?) :-/
I think it should be better after doing that:
  $ cd /home/jfilipe/testes/cairo-dock-plug-ins/
  $ bzr revert
  $ bzr up
  $ cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr

Yes, it's true! It's a pleasure! Thank you.

> Why one stable version (core and plug-ins) of cairo dock, leaves work after lot of updates ?
I'm not sure that I understand your question but you're not using a stable version of the dock (you're using 'trunk' branches and not 3.0 branches).
If you want to use the stable version, you can use these branches: lp:cairo-dock-core/3.0 and lp:cairo-dock-plug-ins/3.0
(you can also use our tarballs https://launchpad.net/cairo-dock-core/+download and https://launchpad.net/cairo-dock-plug-ins/+download
