New automatic function is most wanted....but..

Asked by JoaoH

I was thrilled to see the automatic feature in the new version but also a little disappointed to see the applet go away.

I use a Dell D630 (Ubuntu 14.04) on a Dell Docking station with two monitors when I am in my office. I also have another machine that I use side by side, the ability to quickly disable the screensaver all day was very convienient. But now I have lost that feature unless there is a program in "full screen" and I just don't watch movies or run something in full screen all of the time. Although I can just open the System Settings, go to Brightness and Lock and turn it off altogether, the simple applet just worked so well.

I am not complaining by any means, just want to see if anyone else also feels the same way.

If keeping resources low is crucial, how about keyboard shortcuts like "Ctrl +C + D" to disable and at the sametime turns the Power icon on the top right corner blue and "Ctrl +C + O" to enable???? Not a programmer, just throwing it out there...

I think it's awesome that it now turns screensaver off automatically, but I can understand that some people liked the indicator. Maybe they can include the indicator as a non-default option? If you launch caffeine, you het an options dialog where you can toggle the indicator on and off?

I registered an account here just to post here. This is going to sound harsh but this decision is the most brain-dead thing ever. Not everyone wants to maximize their windows on monitors that are getting higher and higher resolution.

I have a dual monitor setup monitor and don't wish to maximize it. The old version was nice and simple -- toggle on, toggle off. This kills that with the silliest excuse for "simplicity".

Listen to your users and stop being stubborn.

The manual control is back with caffeine-indicator (and has been for some time).

Can you help with this problem?
