How do I satisfy python-newt on RHEL5?

Thanks for the great work on Byobu 3! I see that in order to use the menu, I need python-newt, though I'm not sure how to satisfy this on RHEL5. There is a "newt" package, but installing that doesn't seem to help. Are there sources somewhere?

I saw https://answers.launchpad.net/byobu/+question/93436 but it doesn't seem to contain any specific information about where the snack module is or how to use it to satisfy this dependency.

Me neither, sorry.

Long term, I'd like to try and remove newt from the dependency list,
and just use curses bindings in byobu-config. I don't know how to do
that yet....

Darn, just ran into this again on CentOS 6.2. I don't have sudo, so I can't install non-relocatable rpms AFAIK, and I'm surprised I can't find snack in the PyPI.

You haven't figured out how to get it working on CentOS without root by chance, have you? ;)

No, but python-newt isn't essential. You just won't be able to use
the F9 menu. Everything you do in the menu, though, is doable by
editing a couple of files in ~/.byobu/*
