Better VBR support

Asked by pyropingvin

For some mp3 files I see a wrong VBR bitrate reported in the file info dialog. Instead of e.g. ~253kbps, I see values like 128kbps (as if it's a CBR file).

Basenji uses libextractor for metadata extraction like bitrates.
I'm going to upgrade to the latest libextractor binding as soon as I find time,
but I'm not sure if has a fix to your bug already.
To be on the save side, you can report the bug here: http://www.gnu.org/software/libextractor

Many thanks!
I'm also considering an alternative extraction backend (taglib) in the next release,
which is used in Banshee as well. I expect it to have pretty acurate vbr bitrate reporting,
since it is specialized in audio/video data extraction.

Can you help with this problem?
