Unable to restore from backup

Asked by Todd Nine

Hi all,
First thanks for producing a great backup system. It's worked flawlessly for several months. Yesterday, I tried to upgrade my workstation to 11.04 and BAM everything is hosed. I've reinstalled the 11.04 with a clean disk, now I'm ready to restore my system from Back in Time, however I can't find any substantial documentation on how to do so. I'd be happy to contribute a howto with what I learn, but I need a hand.

I've read this post.

https://answers.launchpad.net/backintime/+question/143488

On my external Drobo ext3 drive, I have the following path.

/media/Drobo01/backup/backintime/greenlantern/root/1

I fire up back in time, and I set the following settings.

where: /media/Drobo01/backup/backintime
advanced:
  host: greenlantern
  user: root
  profile id: 1

Unfortunately back in time never shows my backups, even though I can view them on the disk. I was backing up my entire system except the values in /tmp. Is there a method for restoring the entire system?

Thanks,
Todd

You have to set where to: /media/Drobo01/backup

Dan

Um, can't you just go like this?

cp /backupdrive/backintime/hostname/user/PROFILE_ID/20110509-205030-171/config ~/.config/backintime/

Then startup your backintime and restore?
