Start failed should be noticed

I am using AWN 0.2.6, when try to start AWN from menu, it failed, but silently.
When try it in terminal, it complain that compositing is not enabled. See below:
Error: Screen isn't composited. Please run compiz (-fusion) or another
compositing manager.

So my question is why there is no any error notice when start from menu without compsiting? I think there should be a error GUI notice to tell people why it faile, instead of silent.
I am not sure if 0.3.2 has fixed this problem? Thanks....

In 0.3.2, an error dialog is shown.

Also, in 0.4.0 there will be a(n obviously less-featured) non-composite mode, so having an error dialog will be irrelevant.

Thanks, Mark, I am using Solaris, and I want to build 0.3.2 in Solaris, how can I get the source codes of 0.3.2? which one is more stable?
