triple vertical lines bracket my dock

So, I just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 (it's great) and reloaded/reinstalled AWN (because I'm still new at this). The dock is working perfectly, but there is a display issue I'm hoping someone can help me with. There are three (3) vertical lines (white) bracketing my dock, and I can't figure out why or how to get rid of them. They aren't applications launchers, as far as I can tell. Any advice would be appreciated.
