Awn

Text overlapping; active icons missing!

Asked by dkeeper

I'm a relatively inexperienced Linux user... But I've compiled and installed AWN with no errors (after a lot of Googling)
However, when I start it up, and even though the app runs normally with no errors popping up, I noticed a couple of things:
1) The text describing the running applications (probably tool-tip) are ALL overlapping.
2) The icon of the currently selected application window is simply missing.

When I run it from the terminal, AWN opens up but the following errors keep popping up in the terminal screen:

(avant-window-navigator:6068): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_cairo_create: assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed

(avant-window-navigator:6068): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_composite: assertion `dest_x >= 0 && dest_x + dest_width <= dest->width' failed

Anyone have a clue?
Also, how do I exit AWN when I run it from the panel? (Shift Ctrl Q doesn't work, heh)

I'm running on Ubuntu 7.10 amd64...

Thanks!

It seems that you're using an obsolete version of Awn. The latest (released) version is 0.2.1, and there is a third-party Gutsy repository for Awn:

Text-based Guide: http://wiki.awn-project.org/?title=DistributionGuides#Ubuntu

Ah. Silly me ;D

Got it to work (although there were still a couple of minor problems).
Thanks!
