AWN appearing erroneously without mouse-over

I recently installed AWN. It's pretty awesome. I've been having a problem with its intellihide behaviour, however.
When running a Wine-assisted program in a maximized window, opening/closing a dialog box window causes AWN to flash into focus for a second or so and then back out of focus. This happens on all three of the Wine programs I've tried it on so far (Gecko-Internet Explorer, Notepad, and LTSpice). It's easiest to spot by starting up notepad and using the "Open" dialog box to load a file.
This behavior can become very distracting when working with any drafting programs. How can I fix it?
