After receiving an answer here, should I post thanks?

After I've posted a question and received an answer, am I meant to come up with a thanks post or it is considered a bad manner (as posting a message which does not contain any valuable relevant information on the subject)?

In my opinion, just selecting the response which best answers your question is sufficient. If you want to have a "thanks" post, I don't mind. Other people may have differing views.
