Awn Extras

calendar is using a large precent of processor

I have linux mint 5.0 (Elyssa). I had to install AWN-extras and the navigator by adding repositories to the synaptic manager. I did so and then loaded the padkages and it is working fine, except for the clock/calendar is eating up my processor (AMD Athlon 64 mobile). It uses between 48 to 100% of my processor all of the time. average is around 80%. Can anyone tell me what to do to fix this. I have removed the gnome-panel and would lik to use AWN alone, but it is dragging my system down terribly.

For future reference, please ask applet-specific questions in the Awn Extras answer tracker. The Awn answer tracker is for questions relating to the dock itself.

This doesn't answer the question, but have you tried using the Digital Clock applet? It has basic calendar functionality (it shows a simple calendar when you click on it, compared to clock/calendar, which has external calendaring service support).

In the meantime, I will refer you to one of the maintainers of this applet for a proper answer.

Sorry about that. I would like to have integration with the evolution calendar. I will try that digi clock and see if I can get it to.

the calendar in the digi clock does not integrate with evolution. Is there any updates that fix the large processor usage with the clock/cal applet?

Hi brandon, I am the new maintainer of the calendar applet, but I did not create it. I can try to track this down but I plan to refactor it using newer AWN libraries to make it more lightweight and simple (not functionality-wise, just implementation-wise). So I imagine this will be fixed in AWN 0.4.

Thanks Mike, I would really appreciate it, if you would keep me posted. My distribution does not include the awn-extras. So, when you have a new update, let me know so that I can find a way to install it.
