HAL-less version

Will there be an HAL-less version which can be used on modern Ubuntu and Debian systems that don't ship hal by default anymore ?

ALSA Tray can work without HAL (but without the support of the Multimedia/Volume key).

I Think there is a better way that using HAL for handling MMKey... I will try to find how doing that without HAL :)
